How are multiple sheets handled?

Each worksheet in the workbook is converted into its own Markdown table, in the same order as in the file, with a heading naming the sheet.

Are formulas included, or just the values?

Just the calculated values — Markdown tables can't hold formulas, so each cell shows the result Excel had already computed, not the underlying formula.

What happens to empty rows or columns?

They're carried through as empty cells in the Markdown table, so the shape of your original sheet is preserved.

What is an Excel spreadsheet (XLSX)?

XLSX is Microsoft Excel's spreadsheet format — rows, columns, formulas and multiple sheets in one file. Markdown doesn't have a spreadsheet concept, so Markdown Please converts each sheet into a plain Markdown table: the same rows and columns, without the formulas or formatting behind them.

What is Markdown?
